What is the Chakra System and Why Chakra Balancing is Important
What is the Human Chakra System?
The word ‘Chakra’ was derived from the Sanskrit language and it means spinning disk. It refers to the seven concentrated energy centres within the body that are connected to major body parts and organs.
Comparing to the Chinese Meridian system, which is a network of ‘energy channels’, much like internal pathways, where the life-energy (known as “qi”) flows, the Chakra system is referred to as seven energy points that vibrate and turn to channel energies into the body.
It is important to note that – We Are Energy. All living things are created by and composed of energy. The very function of why our energy centres exist is to keep us healthy psychologically, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
Why is Chakra Balancing Important?
There are seven main Chakras in our Chakra System and they are located along the spinal cord. These Chakras are energy vortexes that spin and expand outwardly. Each Chakra is also depicted by colour and symbol.
Because each Chakra is connected to a group of nerves and organs that govern our psychological, emotional, and spiritual states of being, any imbalances in a specific Chakra can significantly weaken that part of our body.
The 7 Chakras & The Benefits of Chakra Balancing
The Root Chakra
The Root Chakra is located at the base of our spine and it is the core energy centre that drives our sense of security.
Much like Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, the Root Chakra is the foundation of human needs such as money, food and shelter.
When the Root Chakra is balanced, we feel safe and secure, if it is not, it will trigger our insecurities and sense of lack.
Today, people are high-strung and driven by lofty goals that constantly challenge their sense of security, it is no wonder that Colorectal cancer is ranked as one of the highest killer diseases in the world.

When the Solar Plexus is balanced, we feel in harmony with the world. There is no need for power struggles because we are confident and don’t see a need to prove our strength and identity to others.

There are a myriad of ways to regain a balanced Chakra system, but true restoration can only take place when we exercise discernment and self-awareness. The truth is most people are not ready to accept their imbalances and many more will not acknowledge their problems even when these are presented to them.
It is when we are willing to look within that we can derive the appropriate solutions to achieving an empowering life. Are you willing to look within?
